CCP Fozzie to Attend EVE Down Under 2013
CCP have confirmed that CCP Fozzie will be attending EVE Down Under 2013 being held in Sydney, Australia, 29 Nov to 1 Dec 2013.
News of his attendance was first mentioned on EVE TV during the finals of the Alliance Tournament XI.
CCP Soundwave mentioned that CCP Fozzie would be supporting the event, however after interviewing Bam Stroker during a break in the matches, and hearing the huge party we have planned, Soundwave made the comment "..now I want to go to Australia"!
CCP Fozzie is a Game Designer at CCP and is currently working on Ship Balancing within EVE-Online and thus has a very real and direct impact on the player experience in game.
CCP Fozzie, along with CCP Dolan, and CCP Navigator, attended last year's EVE Down Under event via a video link from Iceland, however he goes one step further this year and will be here in person.
He is one of the most liked and respected CCP developers within the world-wide EVE-Online community and for good reason. He is one of the most knowledgeable and approachable people you are ever likely to meet from a game development company.
Prior to joining CCP, he was an active member of the EVE gaming community and has considerable knowledge involving many aspects of EVE-Online.
In recent times has been known to lead a bunch of CCP Devs out on random roams within the game, showing some of the lesser skilled Dev pilots some of the finer points of how to play the game!
We look forward to welcoming him as our special guest at EVE Down Under 2013, and we hope you will join us too.
As an EVE player in the Australian time zone (AUTZ), short of flying all the way to Iceland, this is your only opportunity to both hear directly from, and speak directly to one of the key CCP Devs working on the game you know and love!

Fighting for Fountain
The activity has been building up for the last week in the Australian time zone of Eve-Online as both the CFC and TEST & Allies have started setting their reinforced timers to the AUTZ for both stations and Ihubs throughout Fountain. Fights have been hard to come by recently though with CFC forces holding back and not engaging in fights with their Tengu fleets but having bombing runs go through instead.
On Sunday evening a combined N3 fleet with S2N, NC., SCRAP and associated allies formed a heavy armour fleet with Navy Issue Apocalypse’s, Abaddon’s Navy Issue Armageddon’s with T3 support and logistics and went up against a much larger CFC fleet in Y-1W01 which included Tengu’s, Scimitar’s, a group of Recons consisting of Huginn’s and Lachesis which then proceeded to drop blap dreadnaughts on the armor fleet resulting in heavy losses for the N3 fleet.
The 4-EP Ihub was put into armour reinforced on Monday the 17th of June shortly after down time with the 4-EP station also coming out of reinforced around 2 hours before down time on Tuesday 18th of June. This resulted in a large N3 fleet form up with T3’s consisting of Legions and Loki’s, a large group of Dominix with sentry drones, support ships, and Apocalypses were supplied by a separate TEST & Allies fleet with armour logistics as well. A small fight occurred with less than 1.5B ISK worth of CFC ships destroyed and a Goonswarm SBU was destroyed. Looking to come back and finish the job on the 18th at around 10:30 Eve Time and take out the IHub but this was no longer possible due to a Fweddit spy in TEST stealing the SBU from the XF- gate. At this stage on Thursday the station is still in CFC hands and occasional fighting is still occurring but it has calmed down in light of all of the other timers available across the region.
ZUE-NS is also a station system that has been hotly contested for the last 24 hours or so with almost 100 ships killed in that period so far. An N3 fleet formed yesterday to deal with the timer and consisted again of Dominix’s with sentries, support T3’s and Armageddon’s coming along. There was not much fighting with the battleships chasing after the faster Tengu fleet the CFC brought with around 2.5B ISK worth of ships destroyed on each side. The CFC bombing wing made multiple runs with the largest negated by the Dominix fleet jumping out of the system as the bombs headed toward them.
The ZUE-NS station was repaired by the N3 fleet and then re-enforced again so that the station can be dealt with at a more convenient time with the station coming out of armour reinforced 68 hours after it was shot putting the timer around 10:00 Eve Time on Saturday 22nd of June.

CCP View of the War in Fountain
War in Fountain:
This influence map image was provided as part of of press information pack put together by CCP for E3.
It shows a simplified Influence map and a colored suggestion on how the the Alliance groups are aligned within Null Sec with respect the the fight for Fountain.
The image was labelled - "Invasion of Fountain Player Influence Map"
It was put together by the authors of the well regards Influence Map of EVE , it does a reasonable job of summarizing the current situation with respect to Alliance grouping. Although, as we know in EVE thing can change VERY quickly.
What is interesting is that CCP decided to include this low resolution graphic among series of high resolution images showing the various features of the recent expansion Oydessy.
CCP, with good reason, appears keen to try and capture and put on show at E3, one of the MAJOR selling points of EVE - that is, the content and game play the players create within their sandbox!
HBC Nightmare
As part of a new expanded coverage of EVE from an AUTZ perspective, we bring you an interesting kill from Chiimera and his mates in Razor Alliance.
So the story goes, this kill involved Chiimera and his black ops mates waiting patiently for any poor unsuspecting target to show up on their scans.
You might imagine their surprise when they saw a Nightmare battleship and Chiimera could not believe his luck when he manged to tackle the Nightmare on a gate.
After managing to break the tackle and jump through the gate, the Nightmare pilot could have been forgiven for thinking he had got away. Unfortunately for him, Chiimera also had a Proteus burning toward the original tackled system and met the Nightmare as he jumped through. The Proteus managed to lock up the Nightmare until the others could count down their aggression timers and jump though and effect the kill.
At the same time, the Nightmare pilot had called for backup, but yet again fortune was not smiling on the Nightmare pilot and his Thanatos mate turned up a little too late.
Chiimera and friends now started thinking they may be able to effect a Carrier kill, but alas, they lacked the required DPS, so warped off, content with a 3.2billion ISK on their killboard.
From all reports, the kill-fest in Delve continues, with virtually everyone from Null Sec getting in on the action.
If you have a really interesting story of a fight involving Australians, we would love to here from you and publish your story.

Destruction in Delve
Destruction In Delve:
The last week has seen extensive fighting in the region of Delve and the nearby low sec regions as multiple alliances have piled into the area in order to take moons and get fights. Test Alliance Please Ignore (TEST) has lost multiple POS’s in Aridia to Northern Coalition (NC.), Scrap Iron Flotilla (SCRAP), Nulli Secunda (S2N) while several low sec based alliances Drunk ‘n’ Disorderly (DnD), Lost Obsession and Unprovoked Aggression have been grabbing moons in Aridia, Querious and Period Basis.
SCRAP and NC. took out at least 7 POS’s last week destroying 5 large towers in the Nalnifan system and some mediums in the Huna system without contest. Small to medium gang action has been abundant with fights occurring throughout 1DH, 1-SMEB and NOL-M9 with frigate, cruiser and battle cruiser gangs roaming around to shoot TEST or CFC elements that have set themselves up in the area with the CFC operating out of the 1DH system. Such as these kills in the A-ELE2 system involving SCRAP and the CFC against former HBC elements. [Editor: What is the world coming to when we see SCRAP and CFC on the same side!]
There have also been larger scale fights such as this fairly even numbers fight of around 130 pilots on each side in NOL-M9 with NC. and Pandemic Legion (PL) on one side against TEST and extensive camps with bubbles as well as roaming gangs with interdictors hunting for kills.
The area around 1-SMEB has become a hotbed of activity with TEST along with its allies twice bringing over 1200 pilots with 7 different fleets showing up to the weekend fight to defend the system against PL, CFC and NC. fleets who have come into the system in search of fights and there have also been several capital battles occurring with NC. loosing 3 dreadnaughts and 2 carriers to TEST capitals and super capitals in one of these engagements in NOL-M9.
Burn Venal
Burn Venal
The CFC has swung into action recently with the coalition’s fleets being spotted in multiple locations around Venal putting POS’s into reinforced before moving on to the next system to target. This occurred throughout last weekend possibly from the 3rd of May through to the 5th and resulted in multiple battles as well as stragglers of the CFC fleet getting picked off as they moved through systems to bridging locations.
Speculation has been that the CFC is attempting to clear as many moons as possible before the Odyssey expansion of Eve-Online which goes live in less than 4 weeks with its introduction of new moons available for mining and new reactions for Tech 2 component building. The CFC has also done this in the past as an attempt to push residents of Venal out of the NPC space they live in. The main targets of these actions appear to be The Retirement Club (401K), Black Legion (MEN.) and Scrap Iron Flotilla (SCRAP) with multiple POS’s of each alliance coming under attack over the 3 day period. The main fight however would occur in N5Y-4N on Sunday night Australian time and from around 08:00 Eve time in Venal with the objective of defending a reinforced large SCRAP tower from the CFC fleet.
The fleet was formed up with a composition of Rokh’s and shield logistics with a combination of SCRAP, NC., S2N, and The Kadeshi as the defending side in the system with a pilot count of over 200. One of the POS’s was coming out of reinforced and was repped up and re-stronted with the fleet waiting on word of what the CFC fleet was up to. Finally word came that the CFC fleet which had similar numbers, and being led by Fawlty7, was entering the system next to N5Y, 6W-HRH, which resulted in the defenders setting up at the 6W- gate in N5Y waiting for the opposition to jump in. Which the CFC fleet obliged on, with short range ammo loaded the Rokh fleet waited for the decloak and for primaries to be announced while the logistics ships waited for shield broadcasts.
The CFC decloaked their Maelstroms and started firing alpha into the Rokh’s while a small contingent of Celestis went for the SCRAP & Co. logistics and targets of opportunity. While this was occurring a cyno was lit and capital fleet jumped into system, with around 20 dreadnaughts and 30 carriers with Dabigredboat (DBRB) and the fight was on! Rokh’s were targeted, painted and webbed while blap dreads went to work taking them out until the defending fleet was forced to warp out due to the combined fire power with nearly 500 pilots in local and 10% TiDi kicking in.
After forcing their opponents off the gate the CFC fleet proceeded to reinforce the repaired POS as well as reinforcing a customs office. While this was occurring probes were launched by the defenders and attackers and warp-in’s obtained on the CFC sub-capital fleet at 100KM ranges with the CFC sub-cap fleet repositioning itself as well. Interdictors were used on both sides to hold targets in position while skirmishing occurred on the edges of both fleets between fast tackle and recons that could not reach enemy battleships as well as instances of pods being popped at the sun and fighting on the station on the NPC station in the system.
TiDi fluctuated between 20-35% at times with both sides taking large amounts of damage in multiple engagements over the course of the 2 hours leading up to down time with the fleets fighting up until 3 minutes before down time was to start, blown up ships being replaced with stock from inside the station and some pilots losing 2,3 or even 4 ships over the hours of fighting. With the SCRAP fleet having logged off in a POS shield as DT hit pilots waited on comms and jabber for the word that the server had restarted and that logging in could commence.
With the server up the fleet was reformed and reinforcements bridged in from outside systems to help against the CFC. After a reorganisation of the fleet the defenders were ready to go when a call went out that a Revelation had been found and was well out of range of assistance. The defenders jumped at the chance to avenge their blapped brethren and started firing on the lone capital, the call went out for the Rokh’s to align back and then to overheat their guns as the CFC fleet began to respond with urgency, finally the dreadnaught exploded and the Rokh’s warped out! http://scrap.eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=17625913
In less than 20 minutes the same feat was to occur again, this time with a Moros which was to suffer the same fate with overloaded weapons sending it to an explosive grave http://scrap.eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=17626046. Fighting continued on when the opportunity presented itself with some small losses on both sides as well as the capital fleet being jumped out. Until the last large engagement resulted in some losses as well as hero reps catching multiple Rohk’s in structure and pulling them back from the brink of the Maelstroms alpha while the CFC fleet lost ships.
Finally after close to 5 hours of fighting the CFC fleet left the system and started to move down the pipe from N5Y, there was an attempt to head them off by jump bridging to a system further down the one way pipe but the CFC were not interested in further engagements and the defenders returned to N5Y to find drones, drones everywhere around the 6W- gate.
In the end over the course of the weekend Black Legion lost 4 large POS’s and 5 medium’s across 6 systems, 401K lost 5 large and 2 medium POS’s in 1 system and SCRAP lost 1 large in 1 system. All can agree though that after a distinct lack of large fleet action in the Australian time zone for months that this was the most fun had in a long, long time.
